what is emotional intelligence?
E.I. is about awareness, intention & choice
Emotional Intelligence (E.I.) is the ability to recognize, understand and navigate emotions in ourselves and others leading to positive actions and positive connections. When these practices come together well, leaders, organizations, businesses, schools and communities thrive.
The research is clear:
Emotional intelligence can be learned and developed on both a personal level and an organizational level.

At the basic and foundational level of any thriving institution are relationships – the positive connectedness of those who participate in the day-to-day happenings. The interactions that take place in any organization have a contagious and synergistic effect.
However, little attention is ever paid to the type of connectedness that permeates the institutions and organizations in our society. Transformational leaders play an integral part in the seeding and cultivation of this connectedness, while the sustained growth and strengthening of the relationships require a concerted, intentional effort by the whole team.
By aligning simple policies and protocols with an organization’s values, we can reach a sustained positive culture. This often takes an intentional and well-facilitated process focused on cultivating the relational trust and psychological safety of the group. Zach has been developing this process for years. We work with the unique culture of each organization, building on the strengths that are already present.
In the end, institutions and organizations will have more tools to cultivate a regenerative, positive climate that is optimal for learning, collaborating, and creating.
Mindfulness
As we begin to cultivate more awareness and more facility to pay attention in our lives, we also begin to be more present.
Presence allows us to connect to those around us, to listen fully, and to collaborate effectively.
Mindfulness is a secular, research-based practice that has the potential to transform both the inner landscape of those who practice, but also the quality of the day-to-day interactions of a learning organization.
Through short and simple mindfulness exercises, Zach facilitates and teaches this practice. He teaches it to people of all ages. It can sometimes be the focus of his workshops, but can also be one tool he teaches in the larger scope of cultivating greater Emotional Intelligence.
